The new face of World Poker Tour
Courtney Friel An evening of early winter in Las Vegas had a lot of people beautiful opportunity to show strange next to the famous dancing fountains at Bellagio to watch. At the end of the show, the WPT announcer Mike Sexton and a pretty young lady as a new news WPT hostess for the audience. At the end of the third season, the WPT hostess Shana Hiatt then decided to her career in this field to an end. Courtney has a large and successful experience in their professional life. She graduated from the State University of San Diego. She studied political science and journalism. After graduating she started her serious work of the poker for Channel One in Los Angeles . She was a reporter and director of Jackson and TN. Currently, she works in News at KPSP in Palm Springs , CA . In addition to its well-known TV news operations, it was also poker entertainment features in many TV shows (E! Entertainment Television, Nickelodeon, EBTV Gaming) famous.

PN: Hello, Courtney, warm congratulations on your new position at the WPT!
CF: Thank you!
PN: What could you for the programme of well-WPT propose and how do your personal responsibilities in this area?
CF: I have really big intention, certain segments for the whole programme pruduzieren. I am totally convinced of the Tour beautiful things to offer. I want the original mission of Travel Channel and the viewers meet a nice way give any stay of the tour to learn.
Contact with the public should also play an important role. I like the audience, the family members of players and the players themselves interview. In recent seasons were not all possibilities in this area exploited.
PN: how the fans reacted to your new job?
CF: People reacted very beautiful and positive. I am very pleased with the changes in my life and I am ready to take up the challenge!
PN: How reacted Mike and Vince (Van Patten, employees of WPT)?
CF: They both were very nice and were happy about the opportunity to work in a team. All people who are connected with WPT were very nice to me and made a great help.
PN: I know your experience in the field of TV news. Will you use this experience for certain work ethic for WPT to?
CF: Yes, I am accustomed to really many tasks to the process of reporting to refund most effective. Previously, I had my own cameras and towed up the data processed, the teleprompter with poker … everything! I hope that this experience during the WPT transfers exploit to the best result.
I have the goal, the people to be popular, but I am such a person who always large claims. The initiative plays a very important role in my work. Since I very much worked with different producers, I believe that my experience in the field of reporting useful for the WPT transfers.
PN: You are from Philadelphia …
CF: Yes, that’s true …
PN: Valley Forge , is not it?
CF: Yes.
PN: And now you have your way here in California . What are these changes?
CF: I always dreamed, the girl from California to seine!
PN: You really make such an impression …
CF: (Laughs) I travelled to Los Angeles in 1999. I love this city! I feel relaxed here, the weather is great. I like travelling, so I am quite convinced that my job at Travel Channel and WPT me a lot of fun. Approximately two years ago I said to myself that I will work Travel Channel, and now, with 25, this is a dream come true! All this is simply perfect!
PN: Do you have poker experience?
CF: I had a little experience with the video poker, but I was a real beginner when I came to this game. Until recently vested I do not correct the meaning of the phrase “all in”! (laughs). Only now do I really value estimate of these words! Once I should be a very large amount of information in the field of poker game and edit them in a short time to understand the audience. Since I began my interest for poker and now I am fully prepared to WPT my experience.
I have no trouble learning new things! I studied even the games of other players. The WPT also has given me a wonderful opportunity given WPT Boot Camp in the poker art to understand and learn. Here I won my first tournament! My biggest problem with poker is that I do not have enough courage to ensure the game to begin. There are many things in my game and my behaviour refine.
PN: What are you in your life except news and WPT?
CF: Soon should I do with the show “The Saturday Night Solution” for CourtTV start where we are different “Law & Order” episodes will use to take the thorough analysis of current issues. I am working together with such producers like Dick Wolf. There are also other plans that I do not speak.
PN: What do you do to forget all the work and personal life to enjoy?
CF: I like big and long walks. If I really want to forget everything, I enjoy the canyon not far from my homeland. Quite often I jump in my car, fighting more than an hour with the traffic in California to walk on the beach to go. I do this in order to be alone! I listen to my iPod, watching the sunset and admire Los Angeles .
I fail to see many networks or cable-TV channels. In my room I’m always with Fox News Channel to get fresh information on!
